#13 Soho Pizzeria - 16-18 Beak Street W1

great pizza restaurant in the center of London, just at the end of Carnaby Street (which has lost all it's character in the last 10 years!) i used to eat her about once a week with my wife and friends when i worked down the road at the London Palladium. their "Fiorentina" pizza (spinach and egg) is superb, and i have just seen that they have added "goat's cheese on ciabatta" to the menu too! the atmosphere at night is really nice and they have live jazz most nights of the week. grab a bottle of Italian red wine, sit back and enjoy!

#12 World Food Cafe - 14 Neal's Yard, Covent Garden WC2

the World Food Cafe is one of the most interesting places to eat in London, especially in the summer with the windows open you can look down from the first floor into Neal's Yard and watch the world go by. the food is great and cheap, with dishes from europe, asia, africa, south america...all cooked in front of you. the drinks and desserts too are superb, and the restaurant's atmosphere is nice with photos from the owner's world travels. check the home page for the menu...

#10 Fish & Chips - 20 Berwick Street W1

i used to eat here a lot when i worked down the road at the London Palladium, and i never knew the shop was actually called "Fish & Chips" until just now! very popular place and one of only a handful of real fish and chip shops left in central london. really good quality fish...try the haddock, and tasty chips, with salt and vinegar of course. also you must try mushy peas and pickled eggs, delicious wrapped in paper. just thinking about it makes my mouth water!

#8 Brick Lane Beigel Bake - 159 Brick Lane E1

...and also on Brick Lane is this little beauty...the place is ALWAYS busy...be prepared to queue for 10 minutes or so at any time, but it is well worth the wait. They have the most delicious beigels in London...try the pickled herring or salt beef for a more traditional beigel, or try my favourite cream cheese and tomato (with about 3 cms of cream cheese). also don't forget to get a cup of tea in a paper cup to be like a real Londoner...best eaten outside the shop on the pavement

このベーカリーもブリック・レーンにある。。。いつ行っても混んでるから１０分ぐらい並んで待たないといけない。でも待つ価値がある！。。。この店はロンドンで一番美味しいベーグルを売ってる。ピクルド・へリング（ニシンの酢漬け）かソルト・ビーフは伝統的な味。でも僕の一番好きなのはクリームチーズとトマト（クリームチーズは３ｃｍくらい厚みがある！！）それとカップ・オブ・ティー（イングリシュティー）をぜひ紙コップで味わってみてください。。。ロンドンの人達みたいに店の外で立って食べてね！

#7 Rajmahal Sweets - 57 Brick Lane E1

so I used to go to Brick Lane every Sunday, via Spitalfields Market (before it was redeveloped!) and it is a dream...the best place in London on a Sunday afternoon. Just stroll along or sit and watch people pass. However the 2 best things about this street are in these 2 posts...
Rajmahal Sweets is amazing! try the Gulab Jamun (fried milk balls in sweet syrup) or Barfi (dried milk with ground pistachios) for a very sweet treat, or try the Samosa (triangles of pastry with a dry curry filling) for a savoury delight. I love sweets but I can only eat 2 Gulab Jamun because they are so sweet...but absolutely delicious...

僕達は毎週日曜日ブリック・レーンとスピタルフィールドに行っていました。素晴らしい所で、ロンドンの日曜日はブリック・レーンです！その辺を歩いたり、人を見たりするのは本当に面白い。。。でもブリック・レーンの一番面白いポイントは次の二つの店。。。
ラジュマハル・スウィーツは美味しい！甘いものが好きだったらＧＵＬＡＢ　ＪＡＭＵＮかＢＡＲＦＩをぜひ食べてみて。。。もしカレーの味の方が好きだったらＳＡＭＯＳＡを食べてみてください。僕はスイーツが大好きだけどＧＵＬＡＢ　ＪＡＭＵＮは２つくらいしか食べられない。。。すごく美味しいけど本当に甘すぎ・・・

#4 Bibendum Cafe - 260-262 Brompton Road SW3

the building (the Art Nouveau ex-head-quarters of Michelin in London) is amazing...but the real treat here is the coffee and the chocolate brownie served at the cafe in the courtyard of the building. definately THE best brownie in the world!! check the restaurant inside for delicious (but a little expensive) seasonal lunch and dinner menus...a great place to sit and people watch...when i was working at The Library across the street, I used to go here for lunch every day!! i want to go just thinking about it!

ビベンダム・カフェ
ビベンダムの建物は元のミチェランのロンドンの本部。アート・ヌーヴォーで美しいです。。。でも僕の一番好きなポイントは建物じゃなくて、ビルの前にあるカフェです。美味しいコーヒーとチョコレート・ブラウニー（ケーキ）は世界で一番美味しいのです！ビルの中にあるレストランも美味しいけどちょっと高い。。。カフェのほうが歩いている人を見るためのすごくいい場所です。。。僕は通りの反対側にあるザ・ライブラリーで働いていた時に毎日ここでお昼を食べていました！！今もホントに行きたい！

#2 The Square Pie Co. - Selfridges Department Store, Oxford St. W1

there is nothing more "London" than pie and mash (mashed potato)...and this is the best place for it. conveniently located in the food hall of Selfridges department store, on Oxford Street W1, the pies are delicious (check the WEBSITE for the menu...from steak and kidney to jamaican jerk chicken to feta and spinach!!) and the mash, green peas and gravy are superb...you MUST go!

ロンドンの食べ物で有名なのはパイ・アンド・マッシュ（マッシュポテト）。このレストランはロンドンで一番美味しい！オックスフォードストリートにある有名なデパート、‘セルフリッジ’のフードコーナの中にあるから場所は本当に便利です。パイはホントに美味しくて、種類がたくさんある。。。伝統的なステーキ＆キドニー、ジャマイカのジャークチキン、ギリシャのフェタチーズとほうれん草など。。。マッシュポテト、グリーンピースとグレービーソースは全部素晴らしい！　ぜひ行ってください

#1 The Stockpot - Old Compton Street W1

so close to the tourist attractions but so cheap...the food is good (starters, mains, deserts, traditional English food(rhubarb crumble and custard, or roast beef stew)) but the prices are low and the place is always full of interesting people. located on Old Compton Street (famous for gay bars / shops / restaurants) there is always something to see...my first recommendation
